	EXHIBITIONS & EVENTS "Thoreau's Walden: A Journey in Photographs by Scot Miller” A traveling exhibition presented by the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Tour management provided by the Cincinnati Museum Center. Walden...a place worth a thousand pictures. A place that inspired thousands of words. This exhibition invites visitors to return to the outdoors through 29 photographs which capture the natural beauty that inspired Henry David Thoreau. Also includes: • An artifact case of specimens and artifacts connected to the natural environment. • A short video presentation about Thoreau’s legacy and how his writings influenced contemporary thinking about the natural world and our place in it. • A hands-on nature station and nature activity cards to engage the visitor in local forest ecology. • A feedback area where visitors may leave pictures and thoughts about their own “Walden.” In 1999 Scot Miller embarked on a five-year personal photographic journey reminiscent of that taken by Thoreau some one hundred and fifty years ago. The result is the inspiration for this exhibition: Walden: 150th Anniversary Illustrated Edition of the American Classic, a reprint of Thoreau’s classic, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. The book has enjoyed popular success and critical acclaim. This exhibition was produced in cooperation with Scot Miller and the Walden Woods Project and sponsored by Houghton Mifflin.
